1. The Canning Stock Route
> is one of the toughest and most remote tracks in the world.
> With a total distance of nearly 2000 kilometres of unforgiving dirt track andhundreds of sandhills,
> It is the longest historic stock route in the world, cuts a single line across 3 Deserts — the Great Sandy, the Little Sandy and the Gibson.
> The stock route was proposed as a way of breaking a monopoly that west Kimberley cattlemen had on the beef trade at the beginning of the 20th century.
> The building of the stock route impacted on the cultural and social life of the more than 15 Aboriginal groups and today the Aboriginal history of the track, recorded through oral and artistic traditions ....
We wanna tell you fellas 'bout things been happening in the past that hasn't been recorded, what old people had in their head. No pencil and paper.
We've got to tell 'em through our paintings. — Clifford Brooks, Wiluna, 2006
2. Purnululu National Park
We have seen the Fairy Mounts in Cappadocia Turkey, the Stone Forest in Shilin China, the Rock Churches of Ethiopia Africa, the Drunken Rocks of Patagonia South America ……..
Beaume-Explorer Trans-OutBack Australia presents;
The Bungle Bungle Range by the Kija Aboriginal people. The name means sandstone...with elevations as high as 578 metres of sandstone domes, unusual and visually striking with their striping in alternating orange and grey bands.
The Kimberley is one of Australia's hidden treasures with an immense and complex landscape that encompasses spectacular gorges, waterfalls and cave systems, pockets of lush rainforest and an astonishing variety of wildlife. Wild and wonderful, the Kimberley is one of the world's last great wilderness areas.
4. Ayers Rock
> is one of the oldest rocks on Earth and Australia's most recognizable natural landmarks.
> "Uluru," as Ayers Rock is called by Anangu Aborigines, is a sacred site in the middle of Australia.
> formed over a period of about 500 million years, the Aborigines think of it as a symbol of all creation
> that Uluru was once an ocean, but after a great battle at its shores, it rose up in revolt at the bloodshed, forming the great blood-colored rock.
> the flattened top is 1,142 feet above the plains and at the base has an amazing circumference of 9.4 kilometers
5. The Simpson Desert
> The Simpson Desert contains the world's longest parallel sand dunes.
> vary in height from 3 metres in the west to around 30 metres on the eastern side.
> The largest and most famous dune, Nappanerica, or more popularly called "The Big Red" dune.
> an erg (also sand sea or dune sea, or sand sheet if it lacks dunes) is a broad, flat area of desert covered with wind-swept sand with little or no vegetative cover. Ergs are also found on other celestial bodies, such as Venus, Mars, and Saturn's moon Titan.
6. Fraser Island
> earliest known name of the island is 'K'gari' in the Butchulla people's language (pronounced 'Gurri').
It means paradise.
According to Aboriginal legend, when humans were created and needed a place to live, the mighty god Beiral sent his messenger Yendingie with the goddess K’gari down from heaven to create the land and mountains, rivers and sea. K’gari fell in love with the earth’s beauty and did not want to leave it.
So Yendingie changed her into a heavenly island – Fraser Island.
> is an island about 120 x 24 km width. The island is the largest sand island in the world at 1840 km².
